Wade McCode

Background: Wade McCode was born a military brat. His father was a pilot in the UPF Navy. Wade worshiped his father whom he thought of as a hero and larger than life. At the age of 13 the young man was able to experience his first rush of adrenaline when his father wangled a back seat ride in a high performance star fighter. The boy was hooked and from that day dreamed of being a pilot like his father. It was only a year later that Wade was devastated when he and his mother were informed that his father was dead, shot down in a dog fight. The scandal was that his father ahd screwed up and cost the squadron the battle, but Wade never believed it, his father was too good. Wade joined the Navy to become a pilot but washed out of flight training for taking unnecessary risks. During his brief time with the service he discovered that his fathers service record was classified and sealed. But why keep a pilots records sealed more than a decaded after his death? Wade is a down on his luck pilot that has managed to lose his ship, his government contract, and most of his money. He can't understand how he got where he is, after all he IS THE BEST PILOT this century has ever seen. His flight instructors at the academy were just jealous of his skill, thats why they pulled strings to get him kicked out of the service. And those mobsters that want to rough him up, sheesh if they would just be patient and extend a bit more credit Wade knows he can turn things around, instead they want to get tough. He gets along well with the ladies, and is a sucker for a pretty face, but he is not quite ready to settle down yet. The Starship Licensing Bureau has placed his license on probation after he crashed that scout ship into the landing tarmac while trying to pull a last minute full 540 degree turn

Personality/Motivations: Wade is driven to prove how good of a pilot he is, as if his success could prove his father was a good pilot. He is also an adrenaline junky, hooked on the thrill of high speed stunts. He is a generally nice guy but can be violent when he thinks he is being cheated. When he is not trying to set new records for his derring-do, he is chasing skirts. He doesn't seem to realize that his sometimes immature behaviour, is the only thing that keeps him from being a truly gifted pilot. Perhaps as he grows older he will mature and quit self-destructing.
