David Bowie
David Robert Jones adopted the stage name David Bowie in the mid 1960s as he attempted to break into the music world. His first album release came in 1967, and was self titled. He started to gain fame with the track Space Oddity in 1969, and spent three years with a mostly folk-rock sound. In 1972 he released Ziggy Stardust, and planted himself firmly in the Glam-Rock genre. Through the mid 70s he ventured into funk and soul, as the 1980s came about Bowie into rock and new wave both. Bowie continues to reinvent himself and his sound as time goes on.
